to all the books i've read before
Dw it isn’t a big list.
Hello! In today’s episode of sto-rini, I'll tell you about the books I’ve read so far. As I said, it isn’t a big list (no I'm not proud of it)
Sto-rini- 3
1. The Hardy Boys
I have read 5 books of ‘the hardy boys’ series. It was back when I was in 7th class and we were allowed to choose what we want to read from the library. Before that the librarian would throw a few magazines at our faces and would want absolute silence while we joke around. We were all really excited to finally utilize the time we were given. All of us rushed to the “story books” section and that’s when my eyes landed on this series. I noticed nearly 10 books of that and was determined to read all of them. I started reading them in our library periods and absolutely loved it. I remember being submerged in the book and not play with my friends during the silent period. They would make fun of me but I didn’t mind them AT ALL.
Then 8th happened. 8th was a very sophisticated class because that’s when we were hit by the ‘reality’ rock real hard and were expected to get serious at the very least. We had board exams in 8th class (the exam papers come from the central administration so it’s freaking hard). But it didn’t stop me from reading books. 8th was also when we could take the books home! So? Of course I did take and read them.
Basically, I read like 5 books of ‘Hardy boys’. It’s filled with twists, teenagers, detectives and of course the story is awesome! I don’t remember the titles and not even the stories because it’s been like say, 4 years!
I’ve searched it up on Google and found the titles. I'm sure about 4 but the other one is kinda confusing.
i) The secret of the caves
ii) The missing chums
iii) The shore road mystery
iv) Footprints under the window
2. 1984
Yes I read that. One day, my brother and I were watching a video (some ted talk) and the person talked about George Orwell and his works. Yes, she talked about 1984 and the basic idea about it. I was intrigued and wanted to read about it.
My next birthday gift was, alas! “George Orwell’s greatest works”! It included; ‘Animal Farm’, ‘1984’ and ‘Down and Out in Paris and London’. The animal farm was the smallest one of all and I was tempted to read it but my brother warned me that it’d be pretty difficult to understand unless you know about the world wars. We were studying the World War 1 at that time but I didn’t take the risk to challenge my mind so I went on with ‘1984’, my original goal.
SPOILERS
At first, I was disappointed with the ending. I felt really sad and felt like it was a waste of time. But after a year or so, when my thought process changed, I felt like the ending was really close to the reality. The ‘hero’ doesn’t always win. He can lose and probably change into someone he hated before. That doesn’t make him less interesting (maybe it does). I'm not sure of the impact it should cause on us but I was kinda motivated and demotivated at the same time. Motivated because, I thought the main character didn’t achieve his goal yet was the main character; demotivated because he didn’t do anything and yet he was the mc. Ok that doesn’t make any sense.
3. The Midnight Library
This is my favourite one of all! I saw an article and read that it was the best selling in 2020 and I wanted to read it. I read the whole book in just 4 days. It’s really interesting and I would totally recommend it!
The basic idea is about decision making. We make many decisions in our lives and with each one we build our lives. The whole story revolves around a woman named ‘Nora’ in her 30s. She regrets her life ponders on if her life would be any different if she took a different choice sometime in her life. The rest is history.
4. Little women
The novel is adapted into movies many times and I happen to see the latest one starring thimothée chalamet. I didn’t know him before and I was captivated- aight enough. This novel/movie is about four sisters and their lives. It’s really good, like a family movie.
SPOILERS
At some point there is a heartbreaking incident and it made me cry while watching the movie. When I was reading the book, I sensed the situation is near and my devil hand skipped to see where the chapter was. It was four chapters away. I couldn’t read the book anymore, afraid I may cry. I haven’t touched the book ever since.
(The movie includes two parts, as in ‘the little women’ is the first book in the series and ‘good wives’ is the second one. There are total four books but the movie has only the first two.)
And that’s it. Small list eh? I could add my textbooks if I wanted to but refrained to do so. Anyways, let me know what books you’ve read in the comments!
